in times of peril, thunders rumble plans decay and flowers tumble across the way another succumbsmore tears collect to fill the wellsof dashed hopes and dinner arrangementsmade and broken within a single daya plague is amongst usthe uninvited viruslimbs of trees, limbs of bodies, the faded and gilded devices on loanmother nature and father timegendered notions of conceptual constructstwo elements that nation-states try desperately to controlbut can'tbecauseit’s bigger than themoutreached arms embrace tenuous, taut rainbow prisms suspended in time and frozen in amberlifelines connect via your preferred mode of chat servicedenizens join forces to unify in the eaves of misfortuneeyelids droop, petals fall, leaves shed their attachmentsmetastasis, metamorphosis, from one existence to another
Golden rats line pewter streetsStench so putrid, sorrily pungent So foulDecadence entranced, a decanted expanse With windy whimpers of a long-suffering howl Nebulous shadows in windowless buildingsAmidst scaffolded skies hung by a dowelWhile erroneous claims, misguided and shamedThe whole world to blameNow out on the prowl
these plaster branches ache with arthritisthe weariness of another season of depressionis beat back with the open arms that hug its germy cloakglittery, godly, and goodly, it swells with urgency a flock, a pack, the gaggles and schoolsnature sends everyone away when angrymemories of memories remind us that brick and mortar cannot contain the intangible, untouchable, impenetrableit will defy parameters and bordersit’s just what it does. and it will exist and grow and flourish as it always has, as it always willwho and what we love have no boundstomorrow might still be far awaybut it is inevitable
as time expands, it stands ever so still
Be careful with my heart, you whisperThe tender spots are raw and wornCalluses caused by callousnessBut not in hereWhere we seek shelterWe mourn, we mend, we forage, we makeDo and when the seeds are gatheredThey are planted for sustenance For this long winter As for the winters of our childrenWhen the winds may change directionCaretaking of the nutrients in the soilAs ancestors have done since time immemorialWe make shelterWe build, we dream, we comfort, we striveFor a better world than we inheritedIn this long season of gloomWe reckonWe beckonWe collectivizeWe mobilizeCasting nets and building nestsBeauty and splendor to beholdWhat we once lacked is now within reachIf you know where to lookThe roots are home baseHidden beneath the soil in plain viewBeyond the bark, beyond the brambles We’ll find each otherWhere the sea is up Looking down at the moonWhere the fish sing lullabiesAnd the stars swim in the seaAs the clouds sway with the tidesUnder a warm blanket of sand that envelopes a galaxyThat’s when you will know That you’ve found your place Amongst the dreamers and doersIn a hole nestled in the worldLiberated and freeWelcoming you into the hearth called home
